Purpose/Objective:
This study is comparing the efficacy of Travoprost 0.004% without benzalkonium chloride (BAC) to that of the marketed formulation of Latanoprost 0.005% in patients with dryness and irritation and open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension to determing if travaprost without BAC causes less dryness and irritation. Both travaprost and latanoprost are selective full agonist for the FP prostanoid receptor and prostiglandins and prostaglandin analog are used for first line treatments of open angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. A previous study analyzing whether travaprost with or without Benzalkonium chloride BAC showed that they both had equal safety and efficacy, but the formulation without BAC resulted in less dry eye symptoms and irritation.
