Materials/Methods:
One or both eyes of 90 subjects will be tested with an infrared pupillometer before and after dilation with two different regimens. The first regimen being a standard cataract surgery regimen. The second regimen consists of adding one drop of atropine 1% tid to be applied starting the day prior to repeat pupil measurements. This is a comparative, unmasked interventional study. Baseline pupillary diameters will be measured in one or both eyes of 90 patients with a pupillometer, prior to and after 30 minutes of starting the administration of a standard regimen in photopic conditions. Additional pupillary measurements will be obtained on a second occasion after instillation of atropine 1% 1 gtt tid starting the day prior to repeat measurements. Measurements of pupillary diameter will again be taken after 30 minutes of starting administration of the standard regimen.
