Materials/Methods:
In a prospective randomized comparative study, 50 myopic patients, with myopia up to 5D and astigmatism up to 1D, received Epi-lasik discarding the flap in one eye and PRK in the fellow eye simultaneously. Surgery was done using the NIDEK EC-5000 and the Moria Epi-LASIK Keratome. Patients were followed for 3 months and were seen at days 1, 3, 7, 15 and months 1 and 3. The main parameters assessed were subjective evaluation of postoperative pain using the pain scale, uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) and best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), haze grade and contrast sensitivity.
