Materials/Methods:
Twenty-five patients received baseline RNFL OCT scans in both eyes within 1 month of elective cataract surgery. Among these 25 patients, 13 patients received routine ocular compression for 5 minutes following peri-bulbar block and 12 patients did not. One month following surgery all patients received follow-up RNFL OCT scans in both eyes. The RNFL results in the post-operative eyes were compared to fellow eyes as internal controls and to eyes that did not receive pre-operative ocular compression but went on to have cataract surgery.
