Results:
Preoperative visual acuity ranged from 20/40 to 20/20 (average 20/28) and after the operation it ranged from 20/70 to 20/20 (average 20/25). After vitrectomy, ten of 11 eyes (9 patients) were satisfied with their overall visual function. One patient developed a macular edema and lost two lines of best correct visual acuity.
