Materials/Methods:
Using a calibrated, validated rheometer the viscoelastic material properties of fresh human crystalline lenses nuclei obtained from donors less than or equal to 40 years of age were measured. In addition, compliation of published studies of the pattern of equatorial lens growth were compared to published studies of the pattern of the age-related decline of accommodative amplitude and the age-related increase in intraocular pressure.
