Results:
The complex shear modulus of the crystalline lens nucleus does not correlate with age, R^2=0.007. The pattern of equatorial lens growth matched both the age-related decline in accommodative amplitude and the age-related increase in intraocular accommodation, R^2 =0.90. Both the age-related decline in accommodative amplitude and the increase in intraocular pressure change rapidly during childhood and slowly therafter as predicted by the rapid growth of equatorial lens diamter during childhood and its slow growth thereafter.
